Our Beginnings

“After a pivotal course, examining the abundance of research and a crucial conversation with an abdominal surgeon, I realised prehabilitation was the missing piece in providing the best evidence-based, patient-centered care to my surgical clients. A determination to follow my purpose in life emerged and this practice came into being. With like-minded therapists, Prehab 2 Rehab has evolved into a welcoming, empathetic space where clients are fully assessed and can then choose what they need to optimise their health and wellbeing, as they journey towards surgery and beyond.”

Our Team

Kristen Neill — Director and Senior Physiotherapist

Born and bred in Adelaide, Kristen attended the University of South Australia and received her physiotherapy degree with Honours in 1997. She initially worked for a private cardiorespiratory physiotherapy practice, treating patients in almost every private hospital in Adelaide. In 2000, she centered her work within Flinders Private Hospital within all areas of patient care, including neurology and orthopaedics, before focusing solely on cardiorespiratory patients once again.

With over twenty-five years of experience, Kristen has worked in many different fields of physiotherapy, including private practice, aged care, clinical education, public and private hospitals and in disciplines including geriatrics, neurology, women’s health and orthopaedics. She has always had a specific interest in cardiorespiratory, primarily in acute care and the Intensive Care Unit settings. With this level of diverse expertise, she is extremely well placed to provide you with an individualised prehabilitative programme, encompassing a comprehensive assessment, critical education and targeted physical therapy. After your surgery, she can offer you additional support and tailor a rehabilitation programme, should you need one.

On a personal note, she has adventured around the world to meet her passion for the outdoors, especially rock climbing, scuba diving and trekking. She also loves reading and baking, and has an interest in healthy living, exercise and assisting others to live their best lives.

Emily Wilson - Senior Dietitian

Outside of travelling, Emily has lived, trained and worked her whole life in Adelaide. A deep love of health, biology, food and helping others brought her to dietetics and she has been working as a clinical dietitian for fifteen years, primarily in the acute care environment. As such, Emily has been exposed to a wide variety of surgical specialities and areas of health and medicine. It was clear as her experience grew that oncology and enteral nutrition were particular areas of interest. Despite nutrition being pivotal to good health, in hospital settings dietitians frequently don't see a patient until after their surgery or once they are already unwell. Prehabilitation nutrition is an exciting space to work in as it allows dietitians to provide therapy and advice prior to surgery or avoid a hospital admission altogether.

With her own practice, Dietitian At Home, and through collaboration with Prehab 2 Rehab, Emily is able to provide 'full circle' care. In the comfort of your own home and after a full assessment, she is well suited to discuss how to optimise your nutrition, as part of prehabilitation or any other condition, and how to use nutrition to aid hospital recovery. Upon discharge, she can visit you as needed to alleviate any post-operative or rehabilitative issues and to help you rebuild your health.
